# SubTime vs Substitution Manager

The clearest difference is monetization model: Substitution Manager at free against SubTime's free with in-app purchases. Substitution Manager also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 80%) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). SubTime's advantage is ratings volume (728 vs 4). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SubTime sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month and Substitution Manager sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Substitution Manager holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SubTime has 728 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 80% of SubTime's written reviews are positive against 100% of Substitution Manager's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
