# VPN Prime vs Speed VPN

The clearest difference is monetization model: Speed VPN at freemium against VPN Prime's subscription. VPN Prime's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 6 weeks) and ratings volume (3.4K vs 67). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN Prime sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Speed VPN sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for VPN Prime against 4.4 for Speed VPN. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN Prime has 3.4K ratings behind it against 67, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 77% of VPN Prime's written reviews are positive against 83% of Speed VPN's.

VPN Prime ships an update weekly, Speed VPN every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
