# PubReader vs BN

The clearest difference is review sentiment: PubReader at 67% against BN's 19%. PubReader also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 3 months). BN's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 2.8) and ratings volume (1.9K vs 4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

BN holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BN has 1.9K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of PubReader's written reviews are positive against 19% of BN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

PubReader ships an update every 2 months, BN every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on September 17, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
