# TailWind Smart vs Scrypted

The clearest difference is rating: Scrypted at 5.0 against TailWind Smart's 3.4. TailWind Smart's advantage is review sentiment (52% vs 33%) and ratings volume (89 vs 16). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Scrypted holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TailWind Smart has 89 ratings behind it against 16, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of TailWind Smart's written reviews are positive against 33% of Scrypted's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

TailWind Smart ships an update every 5 weeks, Scrypted every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and September 24, 2026 respectively.
