# Visual Codes vs QR Code

The clearest difference is ads: Visual Codes at none against QR Code's shown. Visual Codes also leads on ratings volume (267 vs 32) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.6). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Visual Codes sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and QR Code sells 6 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Visual Codes against 4.5 for QR Code. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Visual Codes has 267 ratings behind it against 32, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and September 15, 2026 respectively.
