# TOR Browser vs OrNET VPN

TOR Browser and OrNET VPN both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 75% of OrNET VPN's written reviews are positive against 31% of TOR Browser's. OrNET VPN also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). TOR Browser's advantage is ratings volume (14K vs 2.3K). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TOR Browser sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per 7 days and OrNET VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for TOR Browser against 4.6 for OrNET VPN. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TOR Browser has 14K ratings behind it against 2.3K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 31% of TOR Browser's written reviews are positive against 75% of OrNET VPN's.

TOR Browser ships an update every 3 weeks, OrNET VPN fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
