# Kinetic switch vs IP Scanner

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Kinetic switch at none against IP Scanner's 4. Kinetic switch also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 26). IP Scanner's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 7 months) and review sentiment (60% vs 33%). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. IP Scanner sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Kinetic switch asks for nothing beyond the download.

Kinetic switch holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: IP Scanner has 891 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of Kinetic switch's written reviews are positive against 60% of IP Scanner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Kinetic switch ships an update every 7 months, IP Scanner fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
