# fosterway vs Notedrill

The clearest difference is monetization model: fosterway at free with in-app purchases against Notedrill's subscription. fosterway also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.1). Notedrill's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (39 vs 1). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. fosterway sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Notedrill sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

fosterway holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Notedrill has 39 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of fosterway's written reviews are positive against 50% of Notedrill's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

fosterway ships an update every 2 weeks, Notedrill every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
