# Brushout vs GUM SMART

Brushout and GUM SMART both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 86% of Brushout's written reviews are positive against 41% of GUM SMART's. Brushout also leads on ratings volume (4.8K vs 4) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). GUM SMART's advantage is iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.6). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Brushout sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and GUM SMART sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $27.49 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Brushout against 4.8 for GUM SMART. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Brushout has 4.8K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 86% of Brushout's written reviews are positive against 41% of GUM SMART's.

Brushout ships an update every 2 weeks, GUM SMART every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 15, 2026.
