# Brushout vs Clean Hands

The clearest difference is ads: Brushout at none against Clean Hands's shown. Brushout also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 19 months) and ratings volume (4.8K vs 3). Clean Hands's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.6). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Brushout sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Clean Hands sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Clean Hands holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Brushout has 4.8K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Brushout ships an update every 2 weeks, Clean Hands every 19 months. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
