# BAS vs Paper VPN

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: BAS at none against Paper VPN's 8. BAS also leads on iOS requirement (10.0 vs 16.0). Paper VPN's advantage is review sentiment (40% vs 8%) and ratings volume (124 vs 8). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Paper VPN sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. BAS asks for nothing beyond the download.

Paper VPN holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Paper VPN has 124 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 8% of BAS's written reviews are positive against 40% of Paper VPN's.

BAS ships an update monthly, Paper VPN every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 28, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
