# BAS vs DefaultVPN

The clearest difference is review sentiment: DefaultVPN at 43% against BAS's 8%. DefaultVPN also leads on rating (3.7 vs 3.5) and ratings volume (58 vs 8). BAS's advantage is iOS requirement (10.0 vs 16.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

DefaultVPN holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DefaultVPN has 58 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 8% of BAS's written reviews are positive against 43% of DefaultVPN's.

BAS ships an update monthly, DefaultVPN every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 28, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
