# NPCGen5e vs epicGM

The clearest difference is rating: epicGM at 4.3 against NPCGen5e's 3.5. epicGM also leads on ratings volume (101 vs 31) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.0). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. NPCGen5e sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and epicGM sells 8 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

epicGM holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 31 and 101 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 41% of NPCGen5e's written reviews are positive against 37% of epicGM's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
