# Cube AR vs CubePlay

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: CubePlay at none against Cube AR's 1. CubePlay also leads on update cadence (every 3 months vs every 6 months). Cube AR's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (3K vs 4). On price, rating, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cube AR sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. CubePlay asks for nothing beyond the download.

CubePlay holds the better App Store score, 2.3 against 2.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cube AR has 3K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 23% of Cube AR's written reviews are positive against 0% of CubePlay's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Cube AR ships an update every 6 months, CubePlay every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and September 18, 2026 respectively.
