# Freedom vs Blocker App

The clearest difference is monetization model: Blocker App at free with in-app purchases against Freedom's subscription. Blocker App also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.4). Freedom's advantage is review sentiment (64% vs 33%) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Freedom sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month and Blocker App sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Blocker App holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Freedom has 6.1K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 64% of Freedom's written reviews are positive against 33% of Blocker App's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Freedom ships an update every 2 weeks, Blocker App every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
