# Freedom vs App Blocker

The clearest difference is monetization model: App Blocker at freemium against Freedom's subscription. App Blocker also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 weeks). Freedom's advantage is ratings volume (6.1K vs 4) and review sentiment (64% vs 50%). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Freedom sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month and App Blocker sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Freedom holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Freedom has 6.1K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 64% of Freedom's written reviews are positive against 50% of App Blocker's.

Freedom ships an update every 2 weeks, App Blocker every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
