# U vs File Manager

The clearest difference is rating: U at 5.0 against File Manager's 3.5. U also leads on monetization model (free vs ad-supported) and iOS requirement (9.2 vs 15.0). File Manager's advantage is ratings volume (8 vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

U holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: File Manager has 8 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

U ships an update fortnightly, File Manager monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
