# Curious Critters vs Chereads

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Curious Critters at 100% against Chereads's 55%. Curious Critters also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 10) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 13.0). Chereads's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.0) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chereads sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Curious Critters asks for nothing beyond the download.

Chereads holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chereads has 1.9K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Curious Critters's written reviews are positive against 55% of Chereads's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Curious Critters ships an update every 4 months, Chereads every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
