# MasterClass vs UpperMark eReader

The clearest difference is review sentiment: UpperMark eReader at 100% against MasterClass's 29%. UpperMark eReader also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 6) and iOS requirement (12.2 vs 17.6). MasterClass's advantage is rating (4.9 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (123K vs 1). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MasterClass sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $119.99 per year. UpperMark eReader asks for nothing beyond the download.

MasterClass holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MasterClass has 123K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 29% of MasterClass's written reviews are positive against 100% of UpperMark eReader's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

MasterClass ships an update every 3 weeks, UpperMark eReader every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
