# Light Stream vs Monster Smart Lighting

The clearest difference is rating: Monster Smart Lighting at 3.9 against Light Stream's 3.2. Monster Smart Lighting also leads on ratings volume (6.1K vs 26) and chart position (#155 vs unranked). Light Stream's advantage is review sentiment (33% vs 17%) and iOS requirement (8.1 vs 16.2). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Monster Smart Lighting holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Monster Smart Lighting has 6.1K ratings behind it against 26, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of Light Stream's written reviews are positive against 17% of Monster Smart Lighting's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Light Stream ships an update monthly, Monster Smart Lighting every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
