# Hotlap vs Chicane

The clearest difference is rating: Chicane at 5.0 against Hotlap's 4.3. Chicane also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 2) and update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). Hotlap's advantage is ratings volume (79 vs 5) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.0). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hotlap sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Chicane asks for nothing beyond the download.

Chicane holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hotlap has 79 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Hotlap ships an update monthly, Chicane fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
