# ScanCam vs CTL

The clearest difference is rating: CTL at 5.0 against ScanCam's 4.4. CTL also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 5) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). ScanCam's advantage is ratings volume (469 vs 1). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ScanCam sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. CTL asks for nothing beyond the download.

CTL holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ScanCam has 469 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

ScanCam ships an update every 2 months, CTL fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
