# Barsys vs Mixology

The clearest difference is rating: Mixology at 4.6 against Barsys's 3.6. Barsys's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 16.0). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mixology sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Barsys asks for nothing beyond the download.

Mixology holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 38 and 83 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 65% of Barsys's written reviews are positive against 61% of Mixology's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Barsys ships an update every 2 weeks, Mixology fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
