# Type Fast vs Speed Writing

Type Fast and Speed Writing both sit at 4.4 stars, but that hides the real split: 63% of Type Fast's written reviews are positive against 0% of Speed Writing's. Type Fast also leads on ratings volume (523 vs 39). Speed Writing's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 days vs fortnightly). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Type Fast sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Speed Writing sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for Type Fast against 4.4 for Speed Writing. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Type Fast has 523 ratings behind it against 39, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 63% of Type Fast's written reviews are positive against 0% of Speed Writing's.

Type Fast ships an update fortnightly, Speed Writing every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
