# Bunpo vs Chalk

Bunpo and Chalk both sit at 4.9 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Chalk's written reviews are positive against 72% of Bunpo's. Chalk also leads on update cadence (every 4 days vs every 9 days). Bunpo's advantage is ratings volume (18K vs 2). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Bunpo sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Chalk sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Bunpo against 5.0 for Chalk. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Bunpo has 18K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 72% of Bunpo's written reviews are positive against 100% of Chalk's.

Bunpo ships an update every 9 days, Chalk every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
