# Lightning GPS vs TrackingForLess

The clearest difference is rating: TrackingForLess at 5.0 against Lightning GPS's 3.3. Lightning GPS's advantage is ratings volume (21 vs 1) and update cadence (every 7 months vs every 14 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

TrackingForLess holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Lightning GPS has 21 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Lightning GPS ships an update every 7 months, TrackingForLess every 14 months. The most recent releases landed on September 12, 2026 and July 7, 2026 respectively.
