# Lightning GPS vs Amcrest GPS Pro

The clearest difference is rating: Amcrest GPS Pro at 4.6 against Lightning GPS's 3.3. Amcrest GPS Pro also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (158 vs 21). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Amcrest GPS Pro holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Amcrest GPS Pro has 158 ratings behind it against 21, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 38% of Lightning GPS's written reviews are positive against 36% of Amcrest GPS Pro's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Lightning GPS ships an update every 7 months, Amcrest GPS Pro fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
