# Lightning GPS vs Optimus Tracking Pro

The clearest difference is rating: Optimus Tracking Pro at 4.3 against Lightning GPS's 3.3. Optimus Tracking Pro also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (230 vs 21). Lightning GPS's advantage is review sentiment (38% vs 24%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Optimus Tracking Pro holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Optimus Tracking Pro has 230 ratings behind it against 21, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 38% of Lightning GPS's written reviews are positive against 24% of Optimus Tracking Pro's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Lightning GPS ships an update every 7 months, Optimus Tracking Pro every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
