# VPN vs HaloVPN Pro

The clearest difference is update cadence: HaloVPN Pro at every 5 days against VPN's every 6 weeks. VPN's advantage is ratings volume (178K vs 19K). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VPN sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and HaloVPN Pro sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for VPN against 4.6 for HaloVPN Pro. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN has 178K ratings behind it against 19K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 84% of VPN's written reviews are positive against 78% of HaloVPN Pro's.

VPN ships an update every 6 weeks, HaloVPN Pro every 5 days. Both last shipped on November 5, 2026.
