# Mob Armor GPS vs Tread®

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Tread® at none against Mob Armor GPS's 1. Tread® also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 6 months) and rating (4.5 vs 4.3). Mob Armor GPS's advantage is iOS requirement (12.1 vs 16.5). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mob Armor GPS sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $19.99 per year. Tread® asks for nothing beyond the download.

Tread® holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tread® has 437 ratings behind it against 34, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of Mob Armor GPS's written reviews are positive against 63% of Tread®'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Mob Armor GPS ships an update every 6 months, Tread® every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
