# SMS Spam Block vs Textkiller

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: SMS Spam Block at none against Textkiller's 16. SMS Spam Block also leads on review sentiment (58% vs 37%) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). Textkiller's advantage is ratings volume (13K vs 9) and rating (4.3 vs 4.0). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Textkiller sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. SMS Spam Block asks for nothing beyond the download.

Textkiller holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Textkiller has 13K ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 58% of SMS Spam Block's written reviews are positive against 37% of Textkiller's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SMS Spam Block ships an update every 3 weeks, Textkiller every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
