# SMS Spam Block vs SPAM

The clearest difference is rating: SPAM at 4.4 against SMS Spam Block's 4.0. SMS Spam Block's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months) and review sentiment (58% vs 50%). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

SPAM holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 9 and 5 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 58% of SMS Spam Block's written reviews are positive against 50% of SPAM's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SMS Spam Block ships an update every 3 weeks, SPAM every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
