# solAR vs AR Moon

The clearest difference is rating: solAR at 4.6 against AR Moon's 3.2. solAR also leads on ratings volume (2.1K vs 5) and device support (5 vs 3). AR Moon's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 3 months) and review sentiment (80% vs 67%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. solAR sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and AR Moon sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

solAR holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: solAR has 2.1K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of solAR's written reviews are positive against 80% of AR Moon's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

solAR ships an update every 3 months, AR Moon fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 26, 2026.
