# Speak vs Umi

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Speak at 64K against Umi's 2.4K. Speak also leads on review sentiment (66% vs 53%) and chart position (#9 vs unranked). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speak sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $17.99 per month and Umi sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Speak against 4.8 for Umi. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speak has 64K ratings behind it against 2.4K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 66% of Speak's written reviews are positive against 53% of Umi's.

Speak ships an update weekly, Umi every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
