# Funko vs MapGenie

The clearest difference is rating: MapGenie at 4.7 against Funko's 2.7. Funko's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). On price, monetization model, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MapGenie sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Funko asks for nothing beyond the download.

MapGenie holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Funko has 576 ratings behind it against 30, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 18% of Funko's written reviews are positive against 0% of MapGenie's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Funko ships an update monthly, MapGenie every 49 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
