# SimpleEdit vs Textkiller

The clearest difference is rating: Textkiller at 4.3 against SimpleEdit's 3.5. Textkiller also leads on ratings volume (13K vs 22) and chart position (#196 vs unranked). SimpleEdit's advantage is review sentiment (62% vs 37%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SimpleEdit sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Textkiller sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Textkiller holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Textkiller has 13K ratings behind it against 22, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of SimpleEdit's written reviews are positive against 37% of Textkiller's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SimpleEdit ships an update every 3 weeks, Textkiller every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
