# Lens Buddy vs SnapPal

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Lens Buddy at 35K against SnapPal's 2. Lens Buddy also leads on chart position (#145 vs unranked) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Lens Buddy sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and SnapPal sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Lens Buddy against 5.0 for SnapPal. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Lens Buddy has 35K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Lens Buddy ships an update every 2 weeks, SnapPal every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
