# DateBook vs Text Diary

The clearest difference is price: Text Diary at Free against DateBook's $1.99. Text Diary also leads on rating (4.6 vs 1.0) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 26 months). DateBook's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 26.0). On in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Text Diary is free to download; DateBook costs $1.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Text Diary holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Text Diary has 7 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

DateBook ships an update every 26 months, Text Diary every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
