# Spotlight News vs Brieflet

The clearest difference is rating: Brieflet at 5.0 against Spotlight News's 4.4. Brieflet also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 6 weeks). Spotlight News's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and ratings volume (120 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Spotlight News sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Brieflet sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $12.00 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Brieflet holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Spotlight News has 120 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Spotlight News ships an update every 6 weeks, Brieflet weekly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
