# Dose Medbox vs Private PillBox

The clearest difference is rating: Dose Medbox at 4.8 against Private PillBox's 4.0. Dose Medbox also leads on ratings volume (40 vs 3). Private PillBox's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and review sentiment (100% vs 83%). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Dose Medbox sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Private PillBox asks for nothing beyond the download.

Dose Medbox holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Dose Medbox has 40 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of Dose Medbox's written reviews are positive against 100% of Private PillBox's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Dose Medbox ships an update monthly, Private PillBox every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
