# Nextcloud Talk vs NowThis

The clearest difference is price: Nextcloud Talk at Free against NowThis's $4.99. Nextcloud Talk also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ratings volume (441 vs 1). NowThis's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.6). On update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Nextcloud Talk is free to download; NowThis costs $4.99 up front. NowThis sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Nextcloud Talk asks for nothing beyond the download.

NowThis holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Nextcloud Talk has 441 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of Nextcloud Talk's written reviews are positive against 33% of NowThis's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
