# Epub Reader vs LoudReader

The clearest difference is ads: LoudReader at none against Epub Reader's shown. Epub Reader's advantage is ratings volume (11K vs 2) and review sentiment (55% vs 33%). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Epub Reader sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per year and LoudReader sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Epub Reader against 4.5 for LoudReader. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Epub Reader has 11K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 55% of Epub Reader's written reviews are positive against 33% of LoudReader's.

Epub Reader ships an update every 2 weeks, LoudReader weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
