# Epub Reader vs Ereader

The clearest difference is ads: Ereader at none against Epub Reader's shown. Ereader also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.5). Epub Reader's advantage is ratings volume (11K vs 1) and chart position (#31 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Epub Reader sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per year and Ereader sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Ereader holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Epub Reader has 11K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Epub Reader ships an update every 2 weeks, Ereader fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
