# Smart Phonics vs MathFriends

The clearest difference is review sentiment: MathFriends at 99% against Smart Phonics's 46%. MathFriends also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 5 months). Smart Phonics's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and in-app purchases (none vs 17). On price, ratings volume, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MathFriends sells 17 one-off in-app purchases. Smart Phonics asks for nothing beyond the download.

Smart Phonics holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 8 and 13 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 46% of Smart Phonics's written reviews are positive against 99% of MathFriends's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
