# ProGrade vs Gabb Messenger

The clearest difference is rating: Gabb Messenger at 3.7 against ProGrade's 2.1. Gabb Messenger also leads on ratings volume (924 vs 99). ProGrade's advantage is update cadence (every 8 days vs every 5 weeks) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Gabb Messenger holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 2.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Gabb Messenger has 924 ratings behind it against 99, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 26% of ProGrade's written reviews are positive against 19% of Gabb Messenger's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

ProGrade ships an update every 8 days, Gabb Messenger every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
