# Boo! vs Shift

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Shift at none against Boo!'s 1. Shift also leads on ads (none vs shown). Boo!'s advantage is update cadence (every 5 months vs every 77 months) and ratings volume (201 vs 29). On price, rating, review sentiment and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Boo! sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Shift asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Boo! against 4.9 for Shift. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Boo! has 201 ratings behind it against 29, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 96% of Boo!'s written reviews are positive against 100% of Shift's.

Boo! ships an update every 5 months, Shift every 77 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
