# HelloVPN vs VPN Vault

HelloVPN and VPN Vault both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 86% of VPN Vault's written reviews are positive against 70% of HelloVPN's. VPN Vault also leads on ratings volume (29K vs 4.2K) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.6). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. HelloVPN sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and VPN Vault sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for HelloVPN against 4.6 for VPN Vault. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN Vault has 29K ratings behind it against 4.2K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 70% of HelloVPN's written reviews are positive against 86% of VPN Vault's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
