# HelloVPN vs VPN

HelloVPN and VPN both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 70% of HelloVPN's written reviews are positive against 37% of VPN's. HelloVPN also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). VPN's advantage is ratings volume (79K vs 4.2K) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.6). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. HelloVPN sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and VPN sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VPN has 79K ratings behind it against 4.2K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 70% of HelloVPN's written reviews are positive against 37% of VPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

HelloVPN ships an update every 3 weeks, VPN every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
