# HelloVPN vs VPN Private

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: VPN Private at none against HelloVPN's 13. VPN Private also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.6). HelloVPN's advantage is ratings volume (4.2K vs 343). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. HelloVPN sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. VPN Private asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for HelloVPN against 4.6 for VPN Private. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: HelloVPN has 4.2K ratings behind it against 343, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 70% of HelloVPN's written reviews are positive against 68% of VPN Private's.

HelloVPN ships an update every 3 weeks, VPN Private fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
