# Stockspot vs Hostplus

The clearest difference is rating: Hostplus at 4.9 against Stockspot's 3.7. Hostplus also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (80 vs 3). Stockspot's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and review sentiment (72% vs 50%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Hostplus holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hostplus has 80 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 72% of Stockspot's written reviews are positive against 50% of Hostplus's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Stockspot ships an update every 2 weeks, Hostplus every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
